"Our mission is to promote equity and economic empowerment for individuals affected by domestic violence through personalized educational programs, financial assistance, skills development, awareness initiatives, financial coaching, essential resources, legal referrals, and emotional and spiritual support groups."
A future where every individual impacted by domestic violence has the resources, confidence, and community support to live a life free from abuse, economically empowered, emotionally healed, and spiritually restored.
The Houston Resource and Education Center for Domestic Violence (HREC4DV) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals affected by domestic violence, also known as intimate partner violence. Established in June 2019, HREC4DV has evolved from a small support group into a comprehensive community resource, offering holistic services that address both immediate needs and long-term recovery.
The mission of the Houston Resource and Education Center for Domestic Violence is to advance equity and to economically empower those affected by domestic violence through holistic and individualized educational programs, financial assistance, skills development, awareness, financial coaching, basic needs assistance, resources, and emotional and spiritual support groups.
At the heart of HREC4DV is a team of professionals, many of whom are survivors themselves. Their lived experiences foster deep empathy and understanding, enabling them to provide personalized support and mentorship to those currently navigating the challenges of domestic violence. This survivor-led approach creates a powerful cycle of healing, where those who have regained their strength through our programs often go on to support others within the organization.
We have witnessed numerous success stories from individuals and families who, through our combination of wraparound services, have transitioned from crisis to stability. Whether through securing employment, gaining financial independence, finding permanent housing, or simply reclaiming their sense of self-worth, our clients have achieved tangible and lasting outcomes. These successes affirm the impact of our model and motivate us to continue expanding our reach and deepening our support.
At HREC4DV, our team is made up of experienced, diverse, and multilingual professionals who are dedicated to providing compassionate service. We work closely with our clients to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions that support healing and empowerment. Many of our team members have personally overcome domestic violence, bringing lived experience that fosters deep empathy and understanding. This unique perspective allows us to offer trauma-informed care that truly resonates. What sets us apart is our holistic, wraparound approach: we don’t just offer one service—we walk alongside individuals through every step of their healing journey, from emergency support to long-term stability. Our survivor-led model fosters trust, inspiration, and lasting transformation in a way that traditional service models often cannot.
By donating to HREC4DV, you are directly helping families escape cycles of abuse, rebuild their lives with dignity, and access the essential resources needed to thrive. Every dollar fuels real change and brings hope to those who need it most.
